League Rules
The League: To provide a realistic yet fun football experience for all owners. The Realistic Football League is a 30-team career league with 3 seasons completed. We play all games using Sierra Sports Football Pro 98.
All games will be played using WON.net.
The RFL uses VPNFL plays to help create a more realistic environment as the VPNFL staff have corrected many issues (Stock 98 plays are NOT allowed.)
All games are played using 12-minute quarters.
Subbing is not allowed.
All roster moves must be sent into the commissioner via the RMupdate program.
All rosters must have at least the following at each position:
2 Quarterbacks Active
2 Halfbacks Active
1 Fullback Active
1 Tightend Active
4 Wide Receivers Active
1 Center Active
2 Guards Active
2 Tackles Active
2 Defensive Ends Active
2 Defensive Tackles Active
5 Linebackers Active
3 Safety's Active
3 Cornerbacks Active
1 Kicker Active and 1 Punter Active
Each Roster must carry at least 46 players.
All game out files must sent into Commissioner. There is no need for both teams to send in their gamexxyy.out files.
All trades are subject to the approval of the Trade Committee. We are all adults, so the trade committee will be looking for the specific dismantling of teams to help out buddies (St Louis and Oakland a couple seasons back). Silence is approval.
During the game you must call a play before the play clock reaches 25 seconds. Furthermore, you should wait at least 3 seconds after returning to the playcalling screen before selecting your next play. (exception to the rule would be if your in the 2:00 minute Drill.)
The reason we say this is simply that if you select a play immediately after returning to the playcalling screen you greatly increase the chance of making the game fall out of sync.
During the game the defense must wait until the offense has called a play before selecting a play. Again this will help with sync problems.
The following programs are required;
ICQ for league announcements and general correspondence. Please ensure that your number is posted on the web page.
Recover98 (for recovering from game crashes) goes into the Sierra/FBPro98 folder. This should never be run all the way through. Run it to switch sides and then close it.
RMupdate (for roster moves) goes into the Sierra/FBPro98/rmupdate folder
Gameclean (needed to clean out old game files) goes Into the Sierra/FBPro98 folder. It should be run prior to every game.
ITC (for training camp #'s) goes into the Sierra/FBPro98 folder
League Schedule is as follows
Monday night, midnight, PST: Weekly play files will be e-mailed by the commissioner.
Tuesday thru Sunday midnight PST: All games are to be played.
Monday 1am PST: Roster move Files will become available for downloading and will include all approved trades. No other trades will be added to the files for that week. Note: You only need to download these files if you have a trade that will affect your roster moves that week.
If out of sync problems occur, the "jump ball" rule will be the default solution. In other words, team A wins the toss, so during the first out of sync recover, team B gets the choice of which files to use. During the next recovery, team A gets the choice. It will alternate back and forth until the game ends. Hopefully we won't have that many crashes, but you never know.
No Cheating. You cheat and you're gone. We will not even miss you.
Lastly have fun, remember this is only a game.
